Longer winter hours to help keep Sussex warm
The days are getting shorter, and our working hours are getting longer.
From Thursday 1 October 2026, Smart Heat Experts' winter working hours will be 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. We're extending our working day to help meet the demand for boiler servicing, heating repairs and emergency boiler replacements across Sussex.
For our customers, it means more time in our working week to deal with the heating problems that can disrupt home life, alongside the planned work that helps you prepare for the colder months.

A well-earned thank you to our team
Friday 25 September marks the end of our summer working pattern and the team's final summer Friday off.
Those Fridays were earned through the immense hard work they put in during winter 2025. When demand was high, they put in the additional hours to help our customers. Giving that time back during the summer matters to us.
There is a person behind every service visit, repair and installation. Someone carrying the tools, working through the problem and taking care in your home. We want to recognise that properly.
So, to our team: thank you. We appreciate the effort, care and pride you bring to Smart Heat.

Why our hours change with the season
As autumn arrives, heating moves back up the household priority list. Some customers need their annual service. Others switch the heating on and discover a fault, or need help replacing a boiler that can no longer be relied on.
Our seasonal working pattern gives us more time to respond to that demand. It also lets us recognise the extra work our team puts in when things are busiest.
Looking after our customers and looking after our team are both part of running the business properly.
Which appointment do you need?
Boiler servicing
If your boiler is working and its annual service is due, book a service appointment. Tell us the fuel type, make and model if you know them, along with any concerns you have noticed.
For gas appliances, HSE advises at least annual servicing by a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. A service is useful planned maintenance, but it cannot guarantee that a boiler will never develop a fault.

A breakdown or an existing fault
If you already have no heating, no hot water, repeated lockouts or another ongoing fault, please tell us when you contact us. A repair needs the right appointment and time for diagnosis.
It helps to have your postcode, boiler make and model, and any fault code visible on the normal display. Let us know whether heating, hot water or both are affected. There is no need to remove covers or investigate inside the appliance.
For an urgent heating breakdown, call 01444 672796 so we can discuss the next available help. Please do not rely on a social media comment for an urgent response.
An emergency boiler replacement
Sometimes a repair is the sensible answer. Sometimes an urgent replacement is needed. We can assess the situation, explain the options and discuss the work involved.
The timing of a replacement depends on the assessment, suitable equipment and engineer availability. We'll confirm what we can offer for your property before agreeing the work.
Local help across Sussex
We're based in Haywards Heath and work in surrounding Sussex towns and villages, including Burgess Hill, Lindfield, Cuckfield, Hassocks and Crawley. Send us your postcode when you enquire so we can check the right arrangements for your location.
Whether you are planning a service or dealing with a breakdown, the useful first step is to tell us what is happening. We'll help you work out the right visit.
Winter hours: your questions answered
When do the extended hours start?
Thursday 1 October 2026. Our winter working hours will be 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Can I book a late-afternoon appointment?
Tell us which times suit you when you enquire. We'll confirm the available appointment and arrival arrangements for your job. Extended working hours do not mean every time slot is available for every service.
How quickly can you help with a breakdown?
Call us and tell us what has happened. We'll discuss the urgency and the earliest appointment we can offer for your location and the work needed. The longer working day gives us more time to respond to winter demand, and we'll confirm your attendance arrangements when booking.
How do I get in touch?
For an urgent heating breakdown, call 01444 672796. For planned work or a general enquiry, send us your enquiry.
If you suspect a mains gas leak, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from a safe place. For an LPG leak, contact your supplier's emergency service. Do not wait for a booking or social media reply.
We're grateful to our team and to every customer who trusts us with their home. Here's to keeping Sussex warm through the months ahead.
